this a better told story than Sienna and the Girl in the ...

To me, this a better told story than Sienna and the Girl in the Box Series, at least for the four I've read in this series compared to the three in that one. The Sanctuary Series reads like a massively multiplayer online game, which focuses primarily on one guild. To anyone who has played an MMO, the story will be familiar. I'm not sure if any author has tried this format and it was refreshing. You have a Good guild, an Evil Guild and a bunch of smaller guilds that interweave through the tales. There is a kinda lame romance tale thrown in too, though the author is horrible at it. The protagonist Superman (Cyrus) has multiple relationships and he sucks at all of them. The first one is the only one that even has a microbe's chance of being interesting. The battles are very will written when the author focuses on guild raids and very dull once he branches out to military campaigns. There is a lot of dead writing where the same things happen over and over. This will not be as noticeable if you read the books over several weeks. I read all seven books over a three day weekend. Yes, I'm lame.

Not as good as the first three but still interesting.

Interesting addition to the series. I read the first three back to back and wanted more. The only thing I don't like is the "Now" and "5 years ago.." stuff. Even if you follow a long all the books, it takes forever to figure out what is going on "Now". This series reads like a D&D adventure, lots of action with other interesting things thrown in. I will say this book was the least satisfying. The author has dragged out the so called romance between the two main parties forever. Overall still a good read but it seems he is struggling to find a story line here that works, at least compared to the other books.

All in all still entertaining, now I need to get the remaining books and see what happens...

Beautiful but Terrifying!

If you've ever read a series, like I'm sure most have. Usually, you think, oh well it's the second. There's no way it could be better than the first. Then you start to read and the magic that was In the first, still resides in the heart of this story.

Elena the Steel Maiden is on a mission to save Jon. But the Black Magic has already poisoned a man, that she loved. After realizing she couldn't save him at that moment. She had only one choice but to go back to the pit. But there is no good news, there's only another dangerous journey. She has to go to Witchdom and get some help. With a few others following, helping her.

There's a part in the book where Elena is describing a power she's never seen before, Beautiful but Terrifying. This how I feel. This is nail biting, heart pumping, beautiful and terrifying. It's a brilliant fantasy read and I love it.

I loved Elena, she is confident, even when those think she is weak. She fights and isn’t afraid to die. She knows that so many lives count on her and she’ll do anything to keep going. There are a ton of new characters in this one. Richardson’s writing makes it easy to love these characters and really hate the evil ones.

The Journey that Elena goes on is so nerve wracking. I seriously could not put this book down. It’s one of those stories, that you don’t want to be over but you have to absolutely see what happens next.

Really enjoyed this book...

I'm glad I purchased this book. Many mysteries of the story started to unfold and you definitely learn a lot more about the characters. I love Elena's determination even though their situation seems bleak and hopeless at times. I can hardly wait for the new book in the series!

Things Are Getting Good!

Oh, things are getting good. The previous book ended on a bit of a cliffhanger, and this one picked right back up and started off with a bang. I found myself starting to like Elena more. She's a tough little thing and I think she found a purpose in her life that really had me, as the reader, rooting for her.

The author did try to isolate her some, as she's a witch and those helping her are humans, but there wasn't much proven that they didn't like her other than Elena's own uncertain thoughts. The journey to the land of the witches wasn't as drawn out as I suspected and there was plenty of adventure along the way. I really enjoyed the imaginations that went into the familiars and other evils in the forests.
Arriving at the palace was like the story had been turned on it's head. Suddenly, there were new obstacles in Elena's way. I actually really liked where the story was headed once she found the palace. She really got to know her powers a bit better, and a bit of the political intrigue that was going on. I don't want to give too much away, but the scandal had me glued to those pages. I had to find out what would happen!

The beginning definitely didn't prepare me for the ending, and I think that's why I can't resist five stars. The obstacles in the way were entertaining, and the characters were becoming more interesting and the pacing kept me on my toes. I look forward to the next book in the series!

After moving to Los Angeles, he became an assistant to Richard Donner, director of Superman: The Movie. He and his mentor Donner later co-wrote SUPERMAN: LAST SON, featuring the return of General Zod.

Johns has written for various other media, including episodes of Smallville, Arrow and Adult Swim's Robot Chicken, for which he was nominated along with his cowriters for an Emmy. He is the Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment and resides in Los Angeles, California.

Another great piece by Johns

For those who don't know: You need JL vol. 7 - Darkseid War part 1. Then read first two issues in vol. 8, and then read all of Justice League: Darkseid War - Power of the Gods, then continue this graphic from where you left off.

Catch all that? I didn't at first and once I read the first two comics/chapters of this graphic, Batman and Green Lantern begin a conversation in the next comic that directs readers back to Power of the Gods. I was lost and had to stop reading and bought Power of the Gods. It was worth it.

The ending was a let down, it only set up for rebirth and didn't tie up all the goodness that had happened. I can't say it was a bad thing since rebirth is so good. Johns can pen an excellent story with good build up.

Ehhhh, not sure

This book starts with a few pages about how to pick a color for your purpose. But what it really is, is a list of color schemes, one per page, 250 of them. Each scheme is five colors that she believes go well together. Two of the colors in the scheme are accent colors, the other three are the basic scheme. She lists 21 schemes for pinks going from palest peach to deep magenta. 23 orange ranging from persimmon to very dark brown. 23 yellows gong up to a deep ochre. So the range is from soft pastels to very harsh and very dark colors.

Is the book worth it? I've not sure (hence the 3). I did find a couple of color schemes I liked in it, but I like yellow and there weren't many schemes for soft clear yellows. Most schemes were for the more intense, deeper, muddier yellows that I don't care for. I believe that's true for the other colors as well. For my taste, I think I could have done as well playing with paint chips for an afternoon.

Deliberately choosing to use 5 colors per room in particular proportions was a novel idea for me, and one I probably wouldn't like to stock to. So I guess I didn't get much for my time or money.

We bought this book because were were building a custom home. The pallets are not practical pallets for boring people. These are for nurseries and and people who want insanely bold colors. It was useless for us. We wanted some greys, greiges, and blues -- not pinks and oranges and purples. I am clearly not the target audience for this book.

I really loved this book

I really loved this book. I showed it to my colleagues and they said they were going to order one themselves. I have no idea how to put colors together and this book made it really easy. The colors are broken into sections and they show a main color along with accents etc. They also have all the colors in the front of the book almost like the color swatches in the paint stores. You can pick out a color and it will tell you on which page you can find it. This is a must have for anyone trying to decorate a room.
