Such a great trilogy. It's the 1st series I've ever read

Such a great trilogy. It's the 1st series I've ever read. It took me a week a book, so 3 weeks all together. All of the books started off with a bang. It got slow every now and then, but very rarely. The 1st book was a true thriller (which I don't like, but Stephen King always does it good). The 2nd book strayed away from the 1st one, but set up the 3rd one. The 1st 2 were more realistic and the 3rd one was more sci-fi. That made me nervous at 1st, but I ended up loving it. It's hard to choose which one I liked the most because without one, the other 2 wouldn't be possible. But if I HAD to, I'd probably say Mr Mercedes because it set up the rest of the trilogy so good. That's all I'm going to say so there's not any spoilers.

Great boxset!

Very unique box set. Books front matches single books of the trilogy but the side have portion of smiley face which differs from the original hardcovers. I picked up Mr. Mercedes from a thrift shop for a few bucks and this trilogy set was perfect as I didn't own or have read the other two books.

Great for a beginning business

I run a one man chiropractic clinic and I highly recommend this book to any individual starting or about to start a new business. I am a doctor, not a business person. I am quite good at taking sick people and getting them better. I've trained for years in that field, but I have very little business, marketing, advertising experience. After 2 months of trying to gain customers, and people trying to sell me every advertising medium under the sun I found Michael's book. This book is a complete program. It offers guidance on how to organize your business and marketing approach to be congruent and meaningful TO YOU. This book guides you to create an organized marketing strategy in ALL areas of your business. This book took my head that felt like it was spinning out of control, not knowing where to turn, and gave me a compass and plan to navigate marketing and trying to grow my business. It's been 3 weeks since I started reading the book, 1 week since I finished it and I've already doubled my new clients from last month thanks to some very simple concepts Michael introduced me to.

Not for salespeople but for consultants and other business people who need to get "projects" booked

This book isn't as bad as some reviewers have written or as good as others have raved about. This book isn't for salespeople and because of that I was disappointed. This book is for professionals that have to "book themselves," such as public speakers, lawyers, accountants and the like. In some ways if you don't already know what this book teaches you better get a job. However, as the E-Myth points out there are plenty of people that are good at what they do but are clueless about how to get themselves business. If you fall into this category this is a good book to read and implement.

Port's book is long and at times wordy but a fun and easy read. There are diamonds here but you have to mine through a lot of ore to get at them. The book is well written and conversational. I can see why Mr. Port has a successful career. This book is perhaps a good first read if you're considering starting your own business or want to get more clients. For a solid and measurable program I recommend "Get Clients Now" by C. J. Hayden or "Get Business to Come to You" by Sarah and Paul Edwards.

Genuinely helpful strategies to improve your business - especially If you are an introvert

This book contains the best advice I have read on how to run a profitable service business. I have a read a lot of books like this one. Most of them are disappointing. Most of them seem to contain advice I didn't want to follow. Michael's book is quite different. The strategies are solid. It is advice I can follow without feeling I am yet another person demanding attention and money from an increasingly jaded public. Following just one of the strategies got me a booking immediately.
It is an unusual book because it actually delivers what it says on the title.
I particularly recommend this book to introverts like me who hate superficial 'networking' and want to genuinely connect with people.
Highly recommended.

Ben Barrack is a superb investigative radio reporter who digs beyond the headlines. This book features ten of his best investigations, revealing things you never knew about major news stories and events. You only think you know the story of the Peoples Temple, the origins of the Democratic Party, and the real truth about Bill Ayers and the Weather Underground. Barrack uses the stories of Unsung Davids to pull away the veil from these and 7 other stories. It's amazing what Barrack has uncovered that you never read in the new York Times.

I am amazed at the information collected in this book about goings on behind the scene in various parts of the government. Many of these men have an interesting story to tell and the author did an excellent job putting such complicated information together for the average person to understand. Well worth the read.

The ultimate hard-boiled crime novel.

It's a crime that this book is currently out of print. If Paul Cain had published more novels (this was his only one, though he wrote many fine short stories), he might well be as famous as Hammett and Chandler. One reviewer, years ago, wrote that reading Fast One was like traveling to Antarctica -- once you arrived, there was no where else to go. In other words, this novel is truly the hardest, toughest, bleakest and bloodiest of the hard-boiled genre. It defines the outer edges of tough-guy fiction. Spare, terse and without redeeming social value, it is a remarkable work. I highly recommend it. Do whatever you can to find a copy, but you can't have mine

Every fan of Chandler and Hammet owes it to themselves to DEMAND that their local mystery store carry this book. From the tough as nails dialog to the bleak ending, bitter as a bucket of limes, this is the penultimate hardboiled novel. Fast One makes Grafton, Cornwall, et al look like lukewarm consomm� at a spinsterish tearoom. The literary equivalent to a baseball bat baptism

A keen dive into L.A. noir, before anyone else, and a likely influence to Hammett's Red Harvest and its subsequent manifestations, from Yojimbo to A Few Dollars More to film Last Man Standing. Not the same story, however. Great voice- hear the word "homeboy" used correctly in context from nearly seventy years ago. Ellroy's White Jazz is possibly the only evolutionary offspring.

Pioneer Spirit Must Read

Rose, the daughter of Laura Ingalls Wilder, penned this poignant story of her grandparents' 19th century American pioneer experience. I imagine she sat for hours listening to Caroline and Charles Ingalls (Little House on the Prairie), retell the adventurous season of their honeymoon year spent on the Dakota frontier and knew it would make a great book. The tale recounts the journey of the two teens who stake a claim and ride out the complications of prairie living. Within the pages of the book, Charles and Caroline discover that the world is a harsh place, but with grace and stamina they can find the resiliency to beat the elements and live a happy life. I hope to order the book for my high school students in our international school as it deals with universal themes faced by all people. What makes the Ingalls come out on top? Read to see. You won't be disappointed in this short but powerful read. The pioneer spirit prevails but not without a little help from Love. (The newer version called Young Pioneers renames the protagonists Molly and David, perhaps to give the later printing an current feel.)

A real gem! Should be required reading!

This is such a beautifully written book - I have recommended it to others and each one who has read it has adored it. I've always loved Laura Ingall Wilder's books and was reading about her on Wikipedia the other day, when I read the entry on Rose Wilder Lane and was intrigued. I took out this book and Old Hometown from the libary and am hooked - they are beautifully written and evocative books. What a wonderful storyteller! Let the Hurricane Roar really does give you an idea of what the pioneers and their wives went through - her descriptions of the wife's plight were especially moving and took away any self-pity I might ever feel for a bad day at home!

This book was written by Laura Ingalls Wilder's daughter Rose Lane. It is an adult version of some of the children's stories written in Laura's books. If you are familiar with Laura's stories, you will enjoy this!
