One Chapter is Not Included

This is a great textbook, but this version being sold does not have the Heteroscedasticity chapter (Chapter 10) and instead skips that chapter and has Chapter 10 as "Running Your Own Regression Project." Even though what I bought was the Sixth Edition, all the other copies of the Sixth Edition (other than the version being sold here) have Chapter 10 as Heteroscedasticity and Chapter 11 as Running Your Own Regression Project. There is no explanation for why this particular book does not have the heteroscedasticity chapter -- it's not just "missing," since there is a Chapter 10 and there are no skips in page numbers. The chapter was simply not included as part of the book DESPITE the fact that it's the same edition as other books with a heteroscedasticity chapter. This book overall is great and I was able to get my professor to make copies of the heteroscedasticity chapter for me. I'm glad I bought the cheaper version, but just know that there may be a missing chapter (and therefore, missing chapter questions that may be assigned for homework).

Using Econometrics review

I enjoyed the book. I've had just a couple of graduate level stats/forecasting classes and probably know just enough to be dangerous. This book was very straightforward and introduced me to a few regression topics that grad school missed and was a good refresher for things I'd learned but long-forgotten. If you're looking to improve your understanding of regression analysis and how its used but don't want to get into a Ph.D. level of explanation, I recommend this book.

Apparently a "History of the Hip-Hop Generation" is not the same as a history of hip-hop

There are some interesting nuggets about hip-hop history in this book, but you must sift through literally hundreds of pages of extraneous information. It is a difficult read; if you are able to get through it without looking up any words then congratulations, but it takes a lot of reading to get into pockets of good information about actual hip-hop. Most of the book is about the social aspects of hip-hop as opposed to, say, how Death Row was formed, or how Run-DMC met, or anything along those lines. It is a great crash course in post-civil rights era black America, but if you're purely interested in hip-hop history than it can be a pretty brutal read at times.

I love this book

I love this book. As a person who was involved in my local hip hop community, this book helped me go deeper into the roots of hip hop and where it began. I love that it covers all aspects of hip hop culture. Before they had this book translated in Korean, I used to translate the text to help share knowledge with my fellow Korean hip hop heads so that they could better understand the culture. A must read for anyone who loves hip hop culture.

For someone who is really interested in hip-hop and its history and development, I think this book would be very appreciated. However, for the casual reader, it may not be the best choice, the reason being that the author talks about a great number of artists and songs that mean little to someone who is not already well-versed on some of those more significant names and albums. Still, it does offer an interesting perspective on hip-hop and the historical events that influenced and played key roles in how it became what it is today.

A reader recommends "Myths of the Asanas: the Ancient Origins of Yoga"

After reading an excerpt from "Myths of the Asanas: the Ancient Origins of Yoga" in the October 2010 issue of "Yoga Journal" magazine, I got online and ordered a copy of the book from Amazon.com. A student of the works of Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung, I immediately recognized the authors' understanding of, and respect for the mythic tradition. The writing, like magic realism, is reminiscent of children's literature, yet contains deep truths relevant to those in all stages of life. The book is a collection of short stories: synopses of the myths which correspond with the asanas or postures familiar to contemporary practitioners of yoga. Highly informative, but not patronizing, each short section is a relaxing read which gives those who practice yoga a greater understanding of the longstanding tradition in which we take part.
I have enjoyed the book and recommend it to anyone who practices yoga or is interested in mythology/collective consciousness. My only complaint is, however, like so many things "yoga" the presentation is uber-feminine, specifically the cover art. Not everyone who practices yoga is female. Is it too much to ask the marketing gurus to take a more androgynous approach?

Beautiful book!

Highly recommended for yoga students and teachers or anyone interested in learning more about the stories behind the poses. I've always found these stories to be a bit confusing and hard to remember, but this book is written in a way that makes them very real and relatable. The graphics are lovely as well. This is a book to return to time and time again.
